RYAN FAZIO’S ACT IS WEARING THIN

HARTFORD, CT – Ryan Fazio loves to talk about energy costs, but refuses to have an honest conversation about why they’re high or what it would actually take to lower them.

Connecticut families deserve real relief from high utility bills. What they do not deserve or need is political campaign stunts from a Republican nominee who uniformly sides with special interests over average Connecticut families. Fazio continues his trend of offering sound bites instead of real solutions.

The most recent inflation report showed prices hitting a three-year high, with energy costs driven higher by Donald Trump’s endless war in Iran. Now, Trump has yet again sent global energy prices skyrocketing by declaring the cease-fire with Iran “over.”

Yet Fazio — who has praised Trump, badly wants his endorsement, and repeatedly refuses to criticize him — continues to remain silent about the biggest national force pushing energy costs and overall inflation in the wrong direction.

Meanwhile, Governor Ned Lamont has already taken on the utilities directly. He has publicly opposed Eversource’s proposed rate hike and proposed new legislation to strengthen oversight of utility companies, require greater accountability for the costs they pass on to customers, give consumer advocates stronger tools to fight unjustified rate hikes, and encourage more competition and innovation in the energy market.

Statement from CT Dems Spokesperson Ian Clarke:

“Ryan Fazio’s entire campaign is based on press conferences and empty promises. He harps on one issue that he refuses to discuss honestly, while ignoring the broader national affordability crisis facing our families. Governor Lamont and CT Democrats have delivered real, direct relief on taxes, health care, education, and municipal budgets. Fazio has no experience and no real plans. At every turn, Fazio voted against them. His record is making life more expensive for Connecticut families that no amount of talking points can erase.”
