HARTFORD – State Representative Kadeem Roberts (D- Norwalk) will hold a press conference to discuss a proposed bill pertaining to juvenile justice on Wednesday, February 11 at 10 AM.
Rep. Roberts has proposed legislation that would tweak eligibility for early parole. Under current Connecticut law, individuals who were under the age of 21 at the time of their sentencing are only eligible for early parole if they were sentenced before Oct. 1, 2005. Rep. Roberts’ proposed bill would eliminate the Oct. 1, 2005, sentencing cutoff and raise the eligible age from 21 and younger at the time of sentencing to younger than 26.
Rep. Roberts will be joined by State Representative Toni Walker, Dr. Elizabeth Hinton, and other juvenile justice activists. The press conference will be held in Room 1C of the Legislative Office Building.
