CONNECTICUT DEMOCRATIC PARTY ANNOUNCES VINCENT MAURO, JR. AS SENIOR ADVISOR

HARTFORD, CT — The Connecticut Democratic Party today announced that Vincent Mauro, Jr., the longtime Chair of the New Haven Democratic Town Committee, will serve as Senior Advisor to the State Party. In this new role, Mauro will provide strategic counsel to the State Central Executive Committee and work alongside Democratic elected officials across Connecticut to build and strengthen voter engagement programs.

"Vin knows firsthand what it takes to run a disciplined campaign, win tough races and inspire our Democratic base," said Governor Ned Lamont. "His appointment as Senior Advisor is a major win for Connecticut Democrats because Vinnie is a collaborator at heart. He understands the unique challenges our local town committees face, and he has the strategic vision to help our chairs maximize their ground games. I’m thrilled he’s taking on this role to help us build a unified, energized statewide team headed into November."

Mauro is a lifelong New Haven resident and one of Connecticut's most respected Democratic strategists. He currently serves as a Government Affairs Advisor at McCarter & English, LLP, where he draws on more than 25 years of experience in political and municipal settings to advise clients on the full spectrum of government relations matters.

I’m honored to take on this role and to help strengthen our Democratic base across Connecticut,” said Vin Mauro, Jr. “Our party’s strength comes from our people — from the activists, the organizers, and the local leaders who show up every single day. I look forward to working closely with our elected officials, our town committees, and our town chairs in every corner of the state to expand voter engagement, support our candidates on the ground, and make sure Democrats continue delivering results for Connecticut families — and celebrate big wins up and down our ticket in November.”

"Vin Mauro is exactly the kind of experienced, trusted leader our party needs as we head into one of the most consequential election cycles in a generation," said Democratic Party Chair Roberto Alves. "He has spent decades building the New Haven Democratic Town Committee into one of the strongest in the state, and now he's going to bring that same energy, discipline, and strategic vision to our entire statewide operation. I couldn't be more excited to have him by my side as we work to elect Democrats up and down the ticket and deliver for Connecticut families this November."

"To build a better state, we need to build a better, stronger state Democratic Party. That work isn't just about this election or any one election–it's about building a sustainable organization that helps elect candidates and then more importantly helps elected officials implement the big and bold ideas we need to be running on,” said Comptroller Sean Scanlon. “There is no one better suited to help Governor Lamont and Chairman Alves do that than Vin Mauro. He knows how to win campaigns, he knows how to get things done, and I look forward to working with him this cycle and beyond to organize the grassroots ground game we need to keep Connecticut blue and protect and expand on the progress we're making."

“Vin Mauro has been a driving force behind the New Haven DTC’s sustained leadership as a political powerhouse,” said Treasurer Erick Russell. “He has been a friend and trusted advisor to me and many other leaders in Connecticut state government. He is a skilled organizer, messenger, and strategist, and this new role will enable him to leverage those talents for the benefit of Democratic candidates across our state.”

Mauro was first elected Chair of the New Haven Democratic Town Committee in 2013 and was most recently reelected to his seventh two-year term in 2026, making him one of the longest-serving New Haven Democratic town chairs in the modern era. He previously served as Chief of Staff to the Connecticut Senate Democratic Caucus, working closely with legislators from both parties to craft and implement public policy.
