Himes to Visit Bridgeport, Westport Social Service Organizations

 

Bridgeport, CT – Tomorrow, March 11^th, at 12:45 PM, Congressman Jim Himes will visit Alpha Community Services YMCA in Bridgeport, a pioneer in providing supportive services for the homeless in the Greater Bridgeport area. There, he will discuss how the organization is confronting the growing problem of homelessness in Bridgeport by enhancing its cold weather emergency shelters and providing pathways to permanent housing.

THEN, at 2:15 PM, Congressman Himes will visit the Bridgeport Rescue Mission, a non-profit dedicated to combatting poverty by providing services to men, women, and children facing hunger, homelessness, and addiction. There, he will meet with the Bridgeport Rescue Mission’s new CEO, Rhonda Neal, to discuss the organization’s efforts to reach at-risk populations in the area. 

LATER, at 4:15 PM, Congressman Himes will visit Homes with Hope, a Westport-based non-profit focused on combatting poverty and promoting housing opportunities throughout Fairfield County. There, Congressman Himes will meet with the organization’s leadership and tour its facilities. Founded in 1983 as a homeless shelter, Homes with Hope has since expanded to include a community kitchen, food pantry, youth programming, mentoring, and additional housing services.
