TOMORROW: CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL FIREFIGHTERS’ DAY

 

(HARTFORD, CT)—Tomorrow at 1:00 p.m., Comptroller Sean Scanlon will be joined by Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection Commissioner Ronnell Higgins, fire service members, labor representatives, and legislators to celebrate International Firefighters’ Day, which falls on May 4^th, and Fire Service Day at the State Capitol.

 

Comptroller Scanlon and attendees will speak to the work underway to address recruitment and retention efforts, as well as legislation currently being debated this session.

 

Last year, the Office of the State Comptroller issued a Special Examination on Firefighters, raising heightened concerns over the declining number of firefighters in Connecticut.
