Dear CT News Wire,
Did you know that Connecticut has a measure that has been shown to reduce gun suicides? If you answered "no" you're like most people. Very few know about our Gun Violence Protection Order (GVPO) that allows law enforcement to remove firearms from individuals who are at immediate risk of violence to themselves or others.
You can help change that with a tax-decductible gift today to the CAGV Education Fund that will help us get the word out to mental health professionals, physicians and others. Unlike other deserving gun violence prevention organizations, CT Against Gun Violence is the only one exclusively dedicated to reducing gun violence here in Connecticut.
According to a recent academic study by researchers at Duke, UCONN and Yale, for every 10 to 20 guns removed with GVPOs (also know as "risk warrants") one suicide is averted. That's why we need your help to raise awareness of this life-saving measure. Just like the rest of the country, gun suicides in Connecticut account for some two-thirds of gun deaths.

For the past 24 years, CAGV has been at the forefront of educating the public about the health crisis of gun violence. May I count on your tax-deductible contribution now to let us continue our educational efforts and recruit new advocates to the cause of gun violence prevention?
Thanks for your generosity,
