CT Export Week is held from April 24-28 and is an event of the U.S. Department of Commerce Export Assistance Center, the Connecticut District Export Council and partner organizations

HartfordSecretary of the State Denise Merrill and the US Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration are urging Connecticut businesses to join events for Export Week 2017 in order to receive the most up-to-date information on international trade opportunities.

Secretary Merrill said, “Connecticut’s entrepreneurs produce goods and services that are highly desired by consumers and industries around the world. Export Week seeks to help local industries reach those new markets. In the days and weeks ahead, my office and Export Week partners will reach out to businesses to notify them of the opportunities that are available during this important event.”

Anne Evans, Director of the U.S. Department of Commerce Export Trade office in Connecticut, said that Connecticut companies stood to gain valuable insights from the CT Export Week program with a range of activities held across the state to assist Connecticut companies in going global.

Ms. Evans said, “The CT Export Week program includes events such as, market updates, export finance, international Intellectual Property protection and global advertising. Exports are an important part of the State’s economy. In the most recent foreign trade data, Connecticut companies exported more than $15 billion in products providing valuable income to our economy. There will also be a number of seminars and ‘participate from your desk’ webinars, focusing on export markets including business opportunities. Export Week will highlight the significance of exporting to the Connecticut economy and celebrate the success of Connecticut exporters. Through strong support for exporting in our State, we are taking another step towards delivering the jobs that we want for Connecticut. I invite exporters and those considering global business as a future option to come and make the most of Export Week activities.”

Secretary Merrill will send email notifications to the thousands contacts on record with the agency’s Business Services Division as well as utilize social media channels, events and other opportunities to promote the potential benefits of participating in Export Week.

Export Week runs from April 24 to 28 and will include a diverse range of events across Connecticut, each focusing on different industries, international markets and exporter know-how. Attendees will have access to invaluable knowledge, such as market research, export finance support from government agencies, export compliance and more.
