MALLOY CAMPAIGN POINTS OUT FOLEY’S CREDIBILITY PROBLEM
Contrasts new claims with Foley’s own plans to deny vital health care mandates to Connecticut residents
The following is a statement from Campaign Manager Dan Kelly:
“Tom Foley has hit a new low with his new ad. During a 30-second spot, Tom makes no less than three specific claims about things Dan has said or what he ‘plans’ to do regarding taxes. Here’s the problem: during those 30 seconds his campaign doesn’t offer one single citation or source for anything they’re saying. Not one.
“We get that we live in an age of hyperbole – but this is beyond the pale. It’s also ironic considering it began running the same day that the CT Mirror ran a lengthy article titled ‘Foley tests the limits of fiscal credibility.’
“That’s the real difference between these two campaigns – credibility. Here are a couple of examples of what we mean.
“Tom Foley’s health plan would allow insurers to offer plans exempt from state mandates covering things like mammograms and hearing aids for kids. We think health care is an issue that shows defining differences between Tom and Dan. Our ads and the press releases we’ve put out on this topic have included an exhaustive list of sources showing where people can learn more about Tom’s plan to decimate health coverage (including links to Tom’s own site, which lays out his ‘core plan’ and how it’s ‘exempt from state mandates’).
“We’ve done the same thing in regard to Tom’s disastrous record at the Bibb company. Our releases and ads have used no less than 10 sources to lay out Tom’s record of buying that company, driving it into bankruptcy as CEO, and causing thousands of people to lose their jobs and health care while he made off with millions.
“We think voters want fact, not fiction, and that on November 2nd they’re going to send that message to Tom Foley.”
