Hello all,

My question is regarding how to account for the sp argument when I have a hard boundary within a hard boundary.
To give you all some background info, I recently asked on here how to account for an impassable barrier when calculating the home range (akde function) of an individual within a high fence property. You all were able to help me quite quickly be recommending the sp argument within the akde function. However, I now have a question expanding off this, this property which has an impassable high fence boundary also has a large body of water within the property which I would also like to make a hard boundary. I was wondering if there is a way to inform the akde function that I want home range calculated for points within the high fence boundary but also ensure that home range estimates within the property do not overlap over said body of water. I noticed the sp.in argument but was unsure if this would help me for this situation.
I appreciate your time and help!

Best,

Hi Tristan,

You need to combine the two shape files into a single polygon object that designates accessible and inaccessible areas. The topology can be complicated - like having a fish in a lake with an island in the lake.

Best,
Chris
