Chris (/group),
Hello! I was wondering if you would be able to inspect some of my variograms and see if you would consider some of these questionable birds as range residents? Currently I am confident in blvu_01, blvu_11, blvu_18, and blvu_19. Although, blvu_09, blvu_12, blvu_15, and blvu_17 all appear to be somewhat stable lines.

All of the data collected is from ~ 1 year, and the goal of the sutdy is to incorporate an annual home range, so segmenting isn't much of an option.

Please let me know what you think, thank you!

Best,

Hi,

The individuals with under 100km^2 variance do appear very resident, while the individuals above 100km^2 appear to have some seasonal shifts, migrations, or dispersal.
I would want to see the tracking data (to infer behavior) before deciding which direction to go, but there are a variety of options, including segmentation, sliding window analysis, and clustering by behavior. If you have to segment, then you can still mean() the segmented ranges into an annual range.

Best,
Chris
