Hi, I have a question about occurrence distributions. In Table 1 of your recent article in Ecology, "Clarifying space use concepts in ecology: Range vs. occurrence distributions", the BM and IOU models do not assume range residency. However, your variogram vignette in the ctmm package, dated 7/25/2025, states "In the future, we will have migration models to select, but for now all of our models are range resident". So I'm confused on whether I can use the occurrence function to estimate an occurrence distribution for an animal's migration data, which of course is not range resident. Or can you only estimate an occurrence distribution using data for which you could also estimate a range distribution (i.e., range resident data)? Thanks.
