My question centers around how availability is defined when using the rsf.fit function. I read prior correspondence on the group but couldn't figure this out. The question is: for each used point on a telemetry object, are "available" points sampled from the same distribution (i.e. anywhere within the UD)?  Or, for example, if at steps 1 and 100 an animal is at opposite ends of its UD, are the "available" points used to construct the RSF sampled from different distributions that are populated only with points proximal to each location? I read prior correspondence on the group but couldn't figure this out.
Thank you

Hi Gus,

The available area is a smooth distribution estimated simultaneously with the selection parameters. Its detailed in appendix 3 of https://besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/2041-210X.14025
and there is an upcoming paper focused on this.

Best,
Chris
