A couple pairs of sport anchors are worn enough to need replacement at Seismic.  I have a ton of sport anchors (if you are doing hardware replacement let me know and I'll give you several to keep on hand).  I don't have any chain and these anchors are both extended a bit and the chain is rusty, figure I'd like to replace the chain while I'm there.  Does anybody have some chain or know where to get some?  Anybody want to join me Saturday?

I've been asking for this stuff to replace anchors but we can't seem to get an understanding of who has the gear. It'd be good for RC to keep some onhand for these kinds of fixes. Deadcats needs some work among other stuff. There is chain in the red box at Reimers if you want to use that. However probably cheaper just to buy some than to drive out there.

My understanding is that:

Matt Twyman has a bunch (50-60?) of Wave bolts, some Powers (10?) bolts, and some (3?) extraction kits.
Joel has about 45-50 sport anchors and maybe 10 quicklinks.
There is a lot (no idea how much) of chain at Reimers.

Since I've been around, CTM has never been super formal about keeping inventory; we just use everything and buy more when we need it.  But in terms of who keeps it, it's probably best that someone from RC be the holder of it since they do the most maintenance.  Maybe it could be split up amongst the 5 RC members.  If we could arrange for a storage place at Reimer's that would also be good, although we should keep some in town for any Greenbelt maintenance.

People who do maintenance are my favorite people in the universe; thanks all.

I do indeed have ~ what Neil detailed. I'm a fan of having storage location at Reimer's and the GB instead of people's homes.  What about the Reimer's fee booth?  GB is more complicated bc there's no central area with any place to lock stuff up. That might be a bust.

I'm probably booked up Saturday Joel, but keep me in the loop as those plans might be shifting.

Mike OK’d us moving the tool box to the fee booth area. I feel like a good location is out-of-sight behind the port-a-potty.  The box itself is valuable; I’d load it with nearby rocks. He said we can just call to arrange a maintance guy to help us move the box on a county vehicle.

Because of the time that has passed since Mike OKd this, whoever is up for this work should contact   wendi...@co.travis.tx.us.  She is a good person to go to for faster response for all items such as buzzing the trail, cutting trees blocking trails, etc.

After the move I recommend a combo lock rather than hidden key, and change the combo occasionally. Or better, ask Wendi if they can keep a clipboard holding the key and a sign-in sheet with Name, Hardware Removed, Date, Purpose that we put together.

Regards,

I'm more along the lines of the combo. I don't want the county in charge of our stuff. But that isn't what is at issue. I do most of the work or a lot of it. As long as one person has inventory the rest of us know who to contact. I'd be happy to put it all in the RA storage it's close to both Reimers and gelt and I can get gear to anyone who contacts me.

Any thoughts on what kind of chain is preferred?

I know u do a ton, if not most, the work out there Adam, but I'm still a fan of the independence it grants other people who would like to help in the future. Combo sounds good to me.
I do agree with storing at adam's storage space for Greenbelt maintenance though.

I'm down for the box. I just don't want the county to have control of CTM hardware at all.

Not to mention I'd even prefer the box being somewhere closer to the pavilion or something to keep them from being nosy to people getting into the box. Sorry but I'd just rather keep parks out of what is our responsibility.
