There are no dates and times for things yet, but I will let you know as soon as I know more. And they'll be posted on the Idealists Website ( http://www.wix.com/IdealistsUnited/Idealists ).

Wes,
We will be lobbying in the capitol from 11-4. (A bus will leave from the Student Union at 11 and return at 4) The mass meeting will be held from 6-8pm in the Women's Center Program Room. And The War on Kids will be showing from 8-10 pm in the SU Theater.

I haven't seen an update about the press release. Has that gone out?

I saw that the corporate media has already started to cover this
nationwide:
http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/03/03/education.protest/index.html?hpt=C1

Notice in that article that Hartford's own Steve Perry is quoted
extensively. This guy is an icon of the privatization movement nationwide.

We're moving forward with our petition drive and also we'll be doing short
video "confessionals" with students, which will then be made into a YouTube
video.

Great idea Josh. Look forward to seeing those. I sent out a press release today, will send it out tomorrow before I go to work, too.

Since we don't have a flier for the 28th yet, or really any concrete details on it, folks should just collect contacts in their areas and build local organizing which can then be turned out for any future work.

How did things go for everyone yesterday?
My students collected over 200 signatures based on the 3 demands.

The YouTube video is being edited now. I should have it done by Sunday.

The kids really took the ball and ran with it.

Josh-

That is great news! I was at the SCSU event which went well and set some solid ideas in motion for concrete organizing. From what I hear, the UCONN organizing also went well. Over this weekend, we should put some thought into the meeting for the 28th and what its character could be based on what we saw yesterday. There are some points for discussion so we can get a solid grasp on where CT is at before pushing ahead with greater goals.

I am VERY excited about the youtube videos. I told students at SCSU of your project, and they are interested in doing a similar thing there. It is great for outreach and personalizing the crisis, something that is needed for us given our stage in organizing. I will send some thoughts out in a few days regarding future statewide work once I've had some time to think through a few ideas and hear more detailed reports from those who participated. MxCC will be having an event this coming week because of scheduling conflicts.
