Sorry for not getting these out sooner, and Marissa might be able to add some things I missed, but I was busy yesterday and very tired on sunday, so I was not able to get this out.

Notes:
Decided to adopt the following slogans:
Full Funding for Education
0% Tuition Hike
No Faculty/Staff Layoffs or Concessions

We also decided to use march 4th to build for a meeting in mid to late march (I didn't write down the date, so whoever knows that, please add correction), to build for a statewide unified action in April.

In order to forward the goals we had set we also devised a list of tasks to accomplish:
  • Fact Sheets:
    • Hutch and Wes to work on a CSU system sheet
    • Josh to work on a Public Schools sheet
    • Volunteers for others?
  • Organizing Packet for local on campus actions - Jason
  • Press Release - Draft to review over the list to be written by Sky
  • Targeted Outreach fliers - Marissa is working on flier for next meeting, no specific delegation of this task
  • Call-in campaign: Phone scripts and numbers: not delegated
  • Spring Break High School organizing: Not delegated
  • Developing an Online presence (videos, website, facebook, etc.) - put up a simple wordpress as a subdomain of the nation site :ct.defendeducation.org
  • Letter to the CT Labor Movement: Wes and Paul
  • Flier for next meeting: Marissa
  • Also, we need to do more outreach to ECSU and WCSU - we do have connections at these univs, but did not get representation at sunday's meetings. I believe there are people at both schools who have an interest in being involved.
Did I miss anything?

Also, to report on the recent UCONN action on Monday, it was modest, but does present some area for growth. Certainly was considerable concern and energy from students, though only less than half walked out of the meeting.

Lastly, I was interviewed on Counterpoint w/ Scott Harris last night (it was setup before our meeting on sunday). You can hear the segment here:
http://archives.wpkn.org/bookmarks/listen/5480

I tried to keep the segment as broad as possible and focused on the drive towards privatization and how that is playing out here in CT. This was asked of us without any media outreach, so I would imagine that we might get swamped as we start to reach out to the media. We should be prepared to delegate as necessary.
