Greetings.

Been chatting and checking out some Java tools etc (profiling, code
analysis, etc) from a company Enerjy (UK based). I have been quite
impressed with it - has anyone else taken a look? www.enerjy.com

I believe they are also here in August - maybe we could get them give us a
presentation/host a chat or something?

Thoughts?

They have approached me with this idea in mind, they would like to
bring out some speakers for the day (including their company
representatives) and do something for the evening. I will let you know
more as I do.

Hi,

We have bought the "Performance Profiler" and the "Memory Profiler" sometime in the last month.

Their after-sales support has been excellent - I had a small annoyance with a setting, and received several phone calls from the US and the UK until the problem was resolved successfully.

The performance profiler helped me to identify at least one bottle-neck in my code which I probably would have found eventually (one day...or year) - so far, so good.

From the original message:

What I propose to do is host a one-day Enerjy event in conjunction
with the Cape Town Java User Group (if you are interested of course!).
With your recommendation, I would hire a location for the day, arrange
food and drink, etc. for the attendees and prepare an agenda with
speakers, including our technical specialist introducing the Enerjy
offerings to the group. I would also look to do an evening event to
finish the day off.

We'd be looking to host the event around the end of August.

I'd like your advice on potential speakers, currently, Rod Johnson of
the Spring Framework, Kirk Pepperdine and Jack Shirazi of
PerformanceTuning.com (and author of Java Performance Tuning 1st and
2nd Edition) and Heinz Kabutz of Maximum Solutions all have
partnerships with us - I would look to invite them as guest speakers
to the event, budget allowing - are these names familiar in the South
African Java market?
</quote>

It would be great to get Rod Johnson to talk.

What does everyone think?

Yup,

I've spoken to Gareth a few times already. I only wish I had more Java
knowledge to actually make an educated analysis of what they are offering.
As things stand, I still have to invest serious resources into bringing Java
into the main line of development for my humble little business. The website
is quite informative, and given the experiences I've had with similiar tools
(where that's possible anyway) for other languages I can definitely see a
need for their products.

I'm sure they'd love to get a bunch of us together to take a look at some
live demo's of their software. It could also be a good oppertunity to scope
out the other Java users in and around Cape Town. Anyone feel like
sponsoring some new toys for a free software company ? *duck*

I would be interested in attending.

Kirk Pepperdine will definitely come. Jack Shirazi probably not,
since he does not enjoy travelling.

Kind regards from

Your right, lets keep this on the forum. We've been a little relaxed lately.
