Hi guys,

I dont want to step on any toes in here wrt jobs etc.
I'm not an agent, I am a lowly Java dev like the rest of you, I just know of a sponsored Java opportunity in Australia if anyone was interested.

regards
Dudley

All,

Australia government has closed the loop with allowing sponsorship by Australian companies for international workers for longer than 6 weeks (short term projects only).

Only option is to apply through the normal immigration process that can take 2 - 3 years.

Regards,
Clint.

Clint, thats not the case at all. The 457 visa still exists and allows one to stay in Australia for up to 4 years, after which you can apply for permanent residence. You have to be aware that you do not qualify for state benefits, and if you have children it can cost a fortune to send them to a public school(like R40000 a year per child).

The Australian immigration process is pretty slick and efficient, have a look at their site for the 457:

Good luck finding a company that can justify to government this request. All project going forward at my company only uses local resources in IT projects.

That's different though. I'm in Sydney right now and its more a case of there being more devs than jobs, so I find it strange that there are still companies willing to sponsor, but the Visa is still there for those who can justify it.

I do not pay schooling for public school, oh wait, I paid $500 for the year, this opportunity is for a 457 in Brisbane and is justified, they struggling to find candidates and are now looking to use grads.
If you interested, message me.

Exactly what I was driving towards. We stopped hiring international staff, but started resourcing locally. The 457 visa, is "non-existent" in terms of companies using it and providing enough justification.

You are fortunate being in Queensland then. NSW and now WA make you pay for schooling on a 457. I find the job market in this country a bit strange. I arrived six weeks ago on a PR visa, and for the first four weeks there was absolutely nothing. A week ago it was like someone flicked a switch and suddenly I have several opportunities. Recruiter told me they are really struggling to find good senior devs.

At any rate then, if anyone's keen, there's a job. Great opportunity. Just looking out for my fellow devs.

Sorry guys apparently they don't want anyone now suddenly, just last week they said they needed devs, now they saying they don't, now I look stupid. Anyways whatever, these idiots. I do however know of other opportunities here, I will forward the contact info to those who contact me directly. I'm not a recruiter and I make nothing out of this, just thought some of you would like to get out of that place. Will keep you posted.
