Hi all,

I see Hetzner.de offers a low-end virtual server with root access for
EU 7.9 / month: http://www.hetzner.de/en/hosting/produkte_vserver/vq7.

A similar product from a local company would be better for my
purposes, given occasional SEACOM problems; the users will be in SA
and if we're cut off from the rest of the world a shiny German server
won't be of any use.

Does anyone know of such offers? Comparable specs from EliteHost at
more or less double the price is the closest I have come:

http://www.elitehost.co.za/vps

Equivalent from Hetzner SA is a lot more expensive :/.

Regards,
Fritz

SEACOM Seems more reliable.

Hey Fritzie

With more and more lines being laid between Europe and SA, our dependency on Seacom becomes less of an issue, we recently moved all our SA based servers from MTN to rack space London and haven't had any issues and are very happy

Actually, I moved my VPS servers (Rimuhosting.com) from Texas to London too, and they're lightning fast :)

You can ping them if you like:
