Hi Chinese Traditional Instrument and Culture Association (CTICA),
On behalf of Theta Tau, it is my pleasure in inviting you to perform at TechFast, an awesome 12 hour fund raising and entertainment event that will take place on November 21st from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. With 50+ active members, we are the first ever, as well as Berkeley's only, co-ed professional engineering fraternity, and we're really focusing on philanthropy this semester, so Techfast is going to be done right. The purpose of the event is to raise awareness and funds for the organization One Laptop Per Child, a non-profit that distributes extremely durable, low cost, education oriented laptops to children in impoverished countries. To raise awareness for the organization, students will give up the use of any electronic technology (cell phones, laptops, etc) for all 12 hours so that they can understand a little bit what it's like to live in a country without access to any such conveniences. To raise funds for the organization, $12 tickets will be sold, which will cover 3 meals, an entire day of speakers, presentations, and demos, and as much entertainment as we can pack in.
We're aiming for 350-500 people in attendance, so if you are free to perform that day, we would love to have you there. As far as performance time, right now I'm thinking of 15-30 minute time slots, but that is in no way set in stone. If you'd like to perform for longer, or even if you'd like to perform more than once (it is a 12 hour event), that would be favorable. And of course, your name will go on the website, the program, all of our publicity, etc., so we will be sure to market your name along with our event. If you are interested, please please, let me know as soon as possible so we can optimize scheduling for everybody.
Thank you for your time,
Austin Chang
