Friends:
I noticed after hitting “send” that the contact info the CPM’s national organizers had provided was not for a Coffee Party group, but rather for “Americans for Financial Reform” (http://www.ourfinancialsecurity.org). I spoke with them and learned that they are mainly looking for NY residents to go to DC this Wednesday to meet with the two NY Senators. If you are in NY and want to join them, contact Ann Sullivan at 917 974-7814.
Meanwhile, the national Coffee Party folks have also begun urging us to start our own campaigns on this issue. Given that Sen. Dodd is a key player, this certainly makes sense for CT. Here is a recent blog post from CPM USA on the subject, nicely tying together the issues of money in politics and financial regulatory reform and also suggesting several ways we might take action in protest: http://www.coffeepartyusa.com/content/clean-wall-street-k-street
Since Washington is working hard on this issue as we speak, there is a narrow window for getting organized and taking action. What are your thoughts on this subject? Do you support the national organizers’ proposed actions? Are any of you interested in helping to coordinate our efforts as a state over the next couple of weeks?
