Dear Coffee Party Friends:

We are planning to meet with Jim Himes on Saturday 4/17 at 5pm, location TBD (and suggestions welcome—something in HIS district, of course, so Mocha is no good).  I have set up a conference call this afternoon for us to discuss our agenda.  Jeff Rothstein and Steve James have been working on some ideas that they have put into the attached document.  I have also included a draft from CP USA on the meeting (there is a final version of this that I can’t download for some reason—not sure how much it’s changed).  If you want to join the conference call today at 3pm, follow this link to sign in: http://myaccount.maestroconference.com/conference/register/V93REHKT4LVGXYJ

Sunday is our world café training session with Jane Gignoux, the facilitator from our first CPM meeting.  This will be held at my office (1 Riverside Rd, Sandy Hook, across the street from Mocha, green door off of parking lot) from 4-6.  Please RSVP and make sure to arrive a few minutes early so that we can start the session on time.  This fun and intellectually stimulating workshop is useful not only for those who want to conduct their own cafes but for anyone who is involved with group processes. Improve your ability to listen, to promote creative and collaborative thinking and to help form consensus. Invite your friends!

Also, we have a conference call scheduled for 7pm tomorrow (Wednesday) on the idea of a “Politicians’ Report Card.”  CPMer Jim Weiss of NYC has suggested this.  He writes:

"We've been talking about a "Politician's Report Card" by which we can evaluate the degree to which elected officials - or those who aspire to be elected officials - mesh with the stated principles of the Coffee Party. That is, to what degree do they appear to be committed to moving the country forward by civil discourse and (small-d) democratic process? Or (for example), to what degree are they beholden to special interest groups, or by contrast, to what degree do they rely on individual donation for their funding?

Again, the purpose of developing the report card would be a) to create something tangible that can be put to use Right Now, and b) to demonstrate that the Coffee Party is in fact a bloc that means what it says, and votes accordingly."

I you are interested in this call, you can sign up here: http://myaccount.maestroconference.com/conference/register/QRR8ZCK8VG32YJCU

Meanwhile a meeting with Chris Murphy is still being sought as well.  Stay tuned, and email me if you have a special “in” with him, as my first connection hasn’t panned out and I am now working through “regular channels.”

Regards,

Ben
