Testing...Testing... is this mic on?
Is there a Coffee Party? Are there more than four of us here? Is there
any point to this?
I'd like to think that there is. I'd like to think that this is
leading to a national movement. Right now, it seems like it's stalled.
Or maybe, I'm just impatient.
One of the issues that seems to cut across party lines has been the
Bailout of WallStreet that was not accompanied by a bailout of Main
Street. That Goldman Sachs and BoA are doing swell while the rest of
US struggle. And that has made a lot of people angry, Lefties,
Righties, apolitical centerists, basicaly, everybody except the
banksters themselves. They got nice bonuses, things are great in their
world.
So why hasn't there been any coordinated organizing to take on Wall
Street?
This weekend, there will be another HUGE demo in DC on Saturday
against the Wars and on Sunday, a HUGE Immigration march. Where's the
organizing to hit Wall Street?
We, here in CT, are home to many of the rip-off corporations in the
HealthCare and Financial world. Hartford is lousy with them as is the
whole lower righthand corner of the State. Has anyone organized an
action that would, say, paralyze Downtown Hartford at Rush Hour?
Blockade the corporate headquarters down in Greenwich? Picket the
homes of the CEOs and COOs spread all over this State? If they are,
they aren't getting much publicity.
ANSWER coalition (which is highly concentric with the Workers of the
World, AKA Socialists) is organizing the AntiWar march. as they've
done a dozen times before, they do a good job, get the permits and
portapottys, et cetera. You'd think, being Socialists, that they'd
jump at the opportunity to mobilize the rest of the population around
corporate greeed AKA Capitalist Excess. The Idea of taking the fight
to Wall Street, one would think, would be like a light bulb to moths.
And the political climate is ripe because so many people are on the
downside of the current equation, people who would never identify as
Socialist, are p!ssed at the greeed on display. If ever there was an
issue that could Unite Libertarians with old school Conservatives with
Nadirites with PDA/DFA/MoveOnista with Rank&File Democrats, this is
it.

Nice Job! Great Intro.
We know that Hate comes from FEAR. There are only two Primary human
emotions Fear & Love. Love is the most powerful healing force in the
universe. Everything negative comes from fear, hate, anger, revenge,
resentment. Partners in Healthy Communities/PHC is about the Positive
aspects, Love, Compassion and Healing.
When I came back from Viet Nam, I went to Haiti and ran a Hospital
Pharmacy. Four years ago there was a book about Paul Farmer,"Mountains
Beyond Mountains." He points out that so often in Modern Medicine We
treat the symptom and not the Whole Person. So PHC is about Holistic
Healing,Mind, Body and Spirit. As we heal the individual we heal the
community.

Hey, Bud and CV! We've got a number of channels going simultaneously
here in the CPM, so bear with the process. I am the "interim point
person" for CT. I organized the Mocha meeting in Sandy Hook and I've
also been in touch with other organizers and random members around the
state. This list seems like the right place to try to gather statewide
energies. I thought I was on it already, but just learned I was wrong
about that. Hence my failure to respond sooner. As for meeting
listings, I think the national website still makes the most sense, but
I have asked people RSVPing to my Mocha meeting to sign up on the FB
page I have for that as well.

Have either of you been to f2f meetings yet? If so, I'd like to hear
your feedback. We also have the CT FB Group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=366285569342
and a FB page for my Mocha Meeting: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mocha-Coffee-Party/371259588549?ref=ts

In terms of protesting and other kinds of action, there is a vigorous
debate underway and I encourage you to join in! This thread is fine,
or we could use the discussion thread on the two FB pages, wshere
there are currently more people. I also have a google email group for
my Mocha meeting participants, so it's all getting a bit scattered,
unfortunately. One thing that might help is that I want to start
facilitating conference calls (using some nifty new call management
tech) on various topics, so if you have a desire to do that, let's try
to get something scheduled. Virtually all of us want to get to
ACTION, but we're still in an earlier phase as a movement of getting
to know who and what we are and what we want to become. It's tough to
be patient when it seems like all hell is breaking loose in the
country. But let's remember that this thing is only two months old!

Regards,
Ben
