Thursday, 21 September @ 20:00, St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Green Point
Baroque Opera Gala. Lynelle Kenned and Elsabé Richter (sopranos), Sandile Mabaso (tenor), Bongani Kubheka (bass-baritone), the Cape Town Chamber Choir and Camerata Tinta Barocca opens the Cape Town Baroque Festival with an Opera Gala under the direction of harpsichordist Erik Dippenaar. Music from the operas of Handel, Rameau, Purcell, Blow and Pergolesi will be performed. 19.00: pre-concert talk by Anna Stoddard ‘Baroque Divas’
Friday, 22 September @ 20:00, St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Green Point
Chamber music from the Baroque with members of Baroque2000 from Durban, Ralitza Macheva (violin), Refiloe Olifant (violin), Cecilia di Cecco (cello), as well as Capetonian Erik Dippenaar (harpsichord). Music by Uccelini, Merula, Geminiani, Barsanti, Vivaldi and Boyce will be performed in this chamber music concert presented by the Cape Town Baroque Festival.

From Bach to Bach. John Coulter (fortepiano) presents a recital of sonatas and rondos by Haydn, Johann Christian Bach and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach at the Cape Town Baroque Festival. This programme covers broad styles from the luminous Galante of JC Bach, to the early Romantic in the highly personal style of CPE Bach.
Saturday, 23 September @ 14:30, Starts at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Green Point
Historic Walking Tour. An interesting feature of the Cape Town Baroque Festival: the heritage architect, John Rennie, will lead a walking tour of the historic city-centre buildings of Cape Town. Special focus points include the St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, the Strand Street Lutheran Church, and Mosques in the De Waterkant area.

Voices of Vox. This concert of the Cape Town Baroque Festival features the popular choir VOX Cape Town, along with soprano Elsabé Richter and Camerata Tinta Barocca under the direction of Erik Dippenaar. The programme consists of Mozart’s Laudate Dominum and Eine kleine Nachtmusik, and Haydn’s Missa Brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo.

The Bachs – A family affair. The Cape Consort presents a concert at the Cape Town Baroque Festival in which the ensemble continues its exploration of the musical interactions within the Bach family. The programme consists of music by Johann, Michael, Christoph and Sebastian Bach – music from a family of composers. Directed by Hans Huyssen.

Sing for your Supper goes Baroque. Sing for your Supper – Chef Marc Wassung and Monika Voysey (mezzo-soprano) – presents a luncheon and concert of baroque arias and duets featuring Nick de Jager (tenor) and Erik Dippenaar (harpsichord). Canapés and a complimentary drink will be served to welcome guests, followed by a two-course lunch. A cash bar is available.
