After a busy and exciting Cape Town Baroque Festival, CTB is travelling in October to take our music to new audiences in other parts of the country. We start off with our ‘Handel in the drawing room’ programme in Somerset West (Helderberg Village, 7 October at 16:00), followed by our ‘Folk Baroque’ programme in Bloemfontein (Odeion School of Music, 18 October at 19.30) and Pretoria (UNISA, Miriam Makeba Hall, Pretoria, 20 October at 15:00).

Handel in the drawing room: music for an 18th-century domestic setting
Members of Camerata Tinta Barocca present an exciting programme of music by GF Handel (1685–1759) that was performed in an intimate 18th-century domestic setting. The compositions include arrangements of Music for the Royal Fireworks and “Lascia ch’io pianga”, as well as the Harmonious Blacksmith harpsichord suite.
With Bridget Rennie Salonen (baroque flute), Annien Shaw (baroque violin) and Erik Dippenaar (director, harpsichord).

Folk Baroque (Bloemfontein and Pretoria)
Camerata Tinta Barocca presents an exciting programme of Baroque music inspired by and based on folk songs and dances. The programme, performed on period instruments, includes Barsanti’s arrangements of Scottish airs, Geminiani’s trio sonatas based on Scottish folk songs, Scarlatti’s sonatas influenced by Spanish folk music, early 17th-century Italian dances, and a lament by the most famous late 18th-century Scottish folk fiddler, Niel Gow.
With Annien Shaw (baroque violin), Joshua Frank (recorder), Bridget Rennie Salonen (baroque flute), Cheryl de Havilland (baroque cello), Uwe Grosser (theorbo, baroque guitar) and Erik Dippenaar (director, harpsichord).
