I always consider one of the first signs of spring to be flocks of male blackbirds and grackles showing up at my feeders. Had the first one this morning composed of about 20 male RWBlackbirds and one Common Grackle. Also had a single female Brown-headed Cowbird yesterday that gave me a bit of an identification challenge. I usually see them with males that makes them easier to identify, but the single female had a very white throat that I had never noticed on them before. It's good to have to go back to the books every once in a while to reinforce ID characteristics.
