I saw my first mockingbird in Woodbury on Jan. 25 and saw it there almost
every time I was in that area on Trolley Bed Road.

My first mocker of the year appeared in some roadside brush in Branford on March 4th. It feels like a very long time since I've seen or heard one in my own hometown (Chester), so I was happy to see an old friend again.

Is this thread about when do Mockingbirds start singing in the Spring?
I'm use to thinking that most of our Northern Mockingbird population is year-round. I see them all year near Multiflora rose shrubs in southern CT. At least I think I do.

Good question!

What my wife probably heard this week was the song -- which now I retract, as I recall now she finally decided it was likely a Catbird. Oops. Sorry!

As for presence, they seem to like the somewhat more suburban to urban yards near us rather than the somewhat woodsier nook of water company land surrounding our condos.
