Hey all, Hummingbirds are still migrating through in decent numbers.
Although they might not always stop long enough for you to see them, or
have extended visits to the feeders like in the summer months, you can
expect them for a few more weeks. However, this time of year is the perfect
opportunity to photograph or document Birds you see in the yard as we could
possibly be getting other species as vagrants such as (but not limited to)
Rufous Hummingbird. You can continue to put out feeders with fresh nectar
for as long as you can before an extended freeze. I would recommend
bringing in your feeders when we are expecting below freezing temperatures
during the night to prevent damage. Keep an eye on those feeders and
Garden’s and remember, it might not be a Ruby-throated! Try and photo
these guys whenever you can.
Good birding and happy fall,
Stefan Martin
