Friends,
Diane Randall asked Donn and I to help
generate some phone calls to Sen. Blumenthal's office in response to the Iran
resolution that is being put forward by Sen Lieberman and two other
senators. The concern is that it significantly ratchets up the rhetoric
and seeks to limit diplomatic efforts and pressure the Obama administration to
resolve the current stand-off over Iran's nuclear program with a military
response. As far as I can tell, the resolution has not yet been formally
introduced, but the media is starting to write about it. Here is one
article: http://politi.co/AcptSZ
You can read more info at
www.fcnl.org/iran
We expect that the resolution will get visible media
coverage in CT due to Lieberman's "leadership," and one important goal will be
to convince Blumenthal not to support it.
Please call Blumenthal's office
right away: (202) 224-2823.
You can use the following
message:
"I
am calling to express concern about the resolution proposed by Senators Graham,
Casey and Lieberman that will push the U.S. away from dialogue with Iran and
towards further confrontation.
I support dialogue between the U.S. and
Iran as a way of peacefully resolving our conflicts. I urge Senator Blumenthal
to oppose Sen Lieberman's resolution and speak out on the Senate floor in favor
of diplomacy between the U.S. and Iran."
If you see local coverage of
this resolution, please consider submitting a letter to the editor or write a
comment for an online article.
Thank
you!
John
