About the Park & Hike: adventure to the top of Talcott Mountain with us to enjoy views that include the Berkshires, Mount Monadnock, and many other splendid Connecticut landscapes.  We will climb to the historical Heublein Tower that sits upon the peak of Talcott Mountain.  President Eisenhower was asked to run for president during a social event and President Regan attended activities associated with the Actors Guild at this mansion. The hike will take about one hour and 45 minutes and is of an intermediate intensity.  To obtain more information about the park and directions visit: http://www.ct.gov/dep/cwp/view.asp?A=2716&Q=325272

As always, new hikers are welcome.  Remember to utilize footwear designed to prevent slipping and to watch a weather forecast so you will dress appropriately.  Consider bringing along bug spray (seasonal), drinks, snacks, binoculars, camera and cell phone in your back pack.  Please read the disclaimer statement found in the “about us” section of our goggle-groups or Facebook page before attending your first hike with us. You can get the hike notifications by subscribing at this page or by joining our Facebook group.

Parking & Meeting: The main entrance to the park is a large two way street with plenty of parking at the sides of the street.  About half way up the entrance street, where the yellow trail begins; there is a “Talcott Mountain State Park” sign.  We will meet at this sign at 11:00 sharp.

After-social: will he held at the historic Abigail’s Grille & Wine Bar at 4 Hartford Road in Simsbury immediately following the hike.  The restaurant’s incredible history includes being a tavern that served as a stagecoach-stop and a lively social-center that dates back to 1780. Harriett Beecher Stowe frequented this tavern.  To learn more about Abigail’s and to review the menu:  https://www.abigailsgrill.com/
