Dear friends,
This year I will be participating in the Upstate Art Weekend Open Studios event that takes place throughout the Hudson Valley during the weekend of May 16th + 17th. I invite you to join me at the studio of ceramic artist, Irja Bodén in Ghent, NY on Saturday, May 16th + Sunday, May 17th, from 11am to 6pm. Irja's studio, a converted horse barn, will include outdoor sculpture installations in addition to the exhibition of works inside.
For the past year my interest has been in returning to the fundamental and direct activity of drawing and a desire to work exclusively in black and white. I will be showing a selection of oil stick, charcoal & wax drawings along with a selection of small collages from my Box Top series. JaniceLaMotta.com
Irja Bodén will debut a new series of ceramic works, including tiles and alternative-fired forms, that address environmental and climate concerns.
The Open Studio will also feature wall constructions by Simon Draper and outdoor sculptures by Douglas Culhane.
