Jenny Krauss is proud to announce the opening of an exhibition space at Erector Square, the sprawling complex that houses artist’s studios. The gallery will inaugurate the space with “Everyday Notes,” an exhibition of drawings by Jerry Montoya. The opening reception will be held from 6-8pm on March 20th and the show will run through April 24th.

“Jerry Montoya and his work perfectly embody the vision I have for this space,” said Jenny Krauss, Founder and Director of Color Local. Jerry is a talented portraitist who doesn’t let a day go by without finishing a drawing of himself or a family member. Using graphite pencils and an eraser, he draws on 3”x3” Post-it notes. He’s been doing this for years and has amassed hundreds of images, 287 of which will cover the gallery’s walls.

About Color Local:

Located where Fair Haven meets East Rock, Color Local is a passion project for Jenny Krauss. Following the sale of her textile company this past January, Krauss decided to repurpose her former workspace to create a gallery. By hosting rotating exhibitions and events, the gallery will serve as a creative hub for the community.

About Jerry Montoya:

As the child of Colombian immigrants and one of seven siblings, Jerry grew up facing economic hardship in Stamford, CT. From a young age, his talent was recognized by his peers and teachers, eventually earning him a scholarship to the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts. There, he received a traditional education in figurative drawing and painting. While navigating the professional art world, Jerry has held various positions and currently serves as a substitute teacher in the Connecticut public school system.
