Dear James, Ten years ago we opened the doors of Georgetown Arts & Cultural Center with a simple belief: that serious contemporary art belongs here, in this community, at the corner of Redding, Wilton, Ridgefield, and Weston — that is Georgetown. This Saturday we celebrate a decade of that belief with Summer Love — 86 artists, ten years of deep friendships, late nights, and work that has stayed with us. Ten years in. The work is serious. The community is real. A decade of showing up — and we are just getting started. This summer America turns 250 and G-Town Arts turns 10. Two anniversaries, one small gallery, and a show that feels exactly right for this particular moment in this particular country. We are especially proud to honor our beloved friend Jimmy Grashow with his Philadelphia Freedom — horses, flags, fireworks, a death figure in the crowd, Independence Hall rising above the chaos. Hilarious and terrifying and completely alive. There is no better image to anchor this anniversary in this particular American summer. The doors open at 11. The reception starts at 4. We would love to see you. |
