Visitors to this show may find it interesting to trace one artist’s sensibility through various creative pieces, poems and paintings which include pastels, watercolors, and Chinese brushstroke.  

Marilyn Johnston studied Chinese brushstroke with master Yue Mei of Eastern Arts Imports.  For the past twenty years, she has studied drawing, watercolor, and pastel at local town art leagues with master artists Shauna Shane, Karen Israel, and Maurice Caras.  She has exhibited her work at West Hartford Art League and Vernon Arts Center.  Marilyn is also a local poet with three poetry collections and a chapbook published. Her poems,  have garnered six Pushcart Prize nominations.  She is retired from the Bloomfield Public Library where she co-founded the still popular Wintonbury Poetry Reading Series.  She lives in Bloomfield with husband Ray.
