HIGH SUMMER brings together a group of works selected both for their evocation of summer and the way they speak to one another within the exhibition. The arrangement traces a visual progression through the season itself, grouping works that reflect bright sunlight, deep shade, lush landscapes, cool waters, and the warmth that lingers long after the season has passed. Rather than illustrating summer directly, this collection captures its atmosphere through shifts in color, rhythm, and light.
The works are carefully balanced to create movement across the gallery. Warm reds, yellows, and copper leaf radiate outward from the center, while cooler blues and greens recall water, foliage, and open skies. Patterned compositions alternate with architectural forms, encouraging the eye to travel throughout the exhibition and discover new relationships between neighboring works.
These paintings are created on reclaimed architectural windows—primarily house windows—transforming materials that once framed everyday views into artworks that invite closer observation. Through geometry, I explore repetition, proportion, and color while allowing each window’s history to remain visible. The original frames are preserved as an integral part of every piece, giving the reclaimed material a new purpose as both a canvas and a subject.
Together, these works create a conversation about the changing qualities of light and the built environment during the brightest season of the year. I hope viewers will slow down to notice the relationships between form and color, as well as the interplay between the glossy surface of the window and the matte painted geometry. Ultimately, High Summer is an invitation to reflect on memory, place, and the enduring feeling of summer.

Eddie Hall is an abstract artist based in Berlin, Connecticut, known for creating vibrant, geometric works using recycled windows as his canvas. Drawing inspiration from architecture and design, his art transforms discarded materials into bold visual narratives. Hall is a member of the Kehler Liddell Gallery and the Silvermine Guild of Artists, and his work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions at institutions including the New Britain Museum of American Art, Mattatuck Museum, Hill-Stead Museum, Mystic Museum of Art, Edward Hopper House Museum, Slater Memorial Museum, Scope Miami, and many others. He has received numerous awards and his work is held in the permanent collection of the New Britain Museum of American Art and Central Connecticut State University and currently on display at the Connecticut State Capitol Building. Hall is currently pursuing the impossible goal of exhibiting at every library in Connecticut.
