Curated by John O’Donnell
Bringing together 50 artists, ÆMPIRE AGAIN confronts the unseen forces of power and control embedded in every studio across America. The exhibition argues that all art—whether knowingly or not—speaks to an individual’s relationship with empire. Symbols, images, and ideas are reconfigured here to reveal how imperial allegiance disguises itself as freedom, how exploitation is hidden beneath the veneer of creativity. In our politically divided country, steering ever closer to authoritarian rule, this exhibition feels urgent. It insists that art is never neutral: it is always negotiating with structures of power, sometimes resisting, sometimes reflecting, and sometimes complicit. By gathering these varied voices, ÆMPIRE AGAIN seeks to illuminate the fragile balance between artistic expression and the empires that shape it.
