New Exhibits: Land, Sea, Sky and Cut & Paste: A Juried Collage Exhibit, February 15 – March 15, 2026
West Hartford, CT — West Hartford Art League is accepting entries for two upcoming exhibitions with an entry deadline of January 23, 2026. Artists may enter their work by visiting westhartfordart.org/call-for-artists.
Land, Sea, Sky celebrates the beauty and power of the natural world. Open to artists working in all mediums, the exhibit invites diverse interpretations of land, sea, and sky—from sweeping landscapes and dynamic seascapes to abstract reflections of nature. Land, Sea, Sky brings together a wide range of artistic voices, honoring both the serenity and the wildness of our environment while showcasing the many ways artists connect with and respond to the natural elements that surround us. Awards include Best in Show, Honorable Mention sponsored by Jerry’s Artarama and The Peter Ganick Award for Works on Paper.
Susan Powell, the juror of this exhibit, has over 40 years of experience in creating and building private collections. She specializes in art for all budgets. Formerly the Director of the Painting Department at Doyle Auctions, New York, Susan also worked at the Smithsonian Institution. The Susan Powell Fine Art Gallery is located in picturesque downtown Madison, CT.
Cut & Paste: A Juried Collage Exhibit celebrates the art of assemblage and the creative power of transformation. Open to artists working in all collage-based approaches, the exhibit showcases works that juxtapose materials such as paper, paint, photography, magazines, text, and other found objects on paper, canvas, or alternative surfaces. By layering, recontextualizing, and combining diverse elements, participating artists create dynamic new works that highlight the versatility, experimentation, and expressive potential of collage as a contemporary art form. Awards include Best in Show, Second Place sponsored by Jerry’s Artarama and Juror’s Honorable Mention.
Betsy Silverman of Betsy Silverman Collage is our juror for this exhibition. Betsy’s photorealistic artworks are made entirely of recycled magazines. No paint, ink, or pencil is used. Betsy began working with paper as a medium while studying architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design. Betsy lives in the Boston area. She graduated from Cornell and earned a master’s degree from the Rhode Island School of Design.
The opening reception of both exhibits will be held Sunday, February 15 from 2 to 4 pm at 37 Buena Vista Road, West Hartford. This reception is free to the public. Gallery hours are Thursday through Sunday, 1 – 4 pm.
