HARTFORD, CT – Real Art Ways will present a one-week pop-up solo exhibition featuring the work of interdisciplinary and experimental artist Hanieh Kashani at
56 Arbor Street.
Originally from Tehran, Iran, Kashani holds an MFA in Studio Art from the University of Connecticut and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Sociocultural Anthropology at the CUNY Graduate Center.
After joining Real Art Ways in July 2025 as a grant writer and assistant to Executive Director Will K. Wilkins, Kashani established a studio space inside the 56 Arbor Street building, owned by the arts organization. As colleagues observed the exceptional rigor and vision applied to her contributions and studio practice upstairs, the organization moved forward with plans to present her ideas in a solo show.
Kashani’s provocative, imaginative work investigates how regimes of exclusion and imposed unity shape lived experiences of selfhood, otherness, rootedness, and displacement.
