FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Five Points Arts Presents the 2026 Print Festival Weekend – A Festival for Everyone!
A Celebration of Printmaking featuring BIG INK, an International Juried Print Exhibition, Printmaking Demonstrations and Hands-on printmaking activities.
FREE and OPEN TO ALL!   Saturday & Sunday, July 18 - 19, 10 AM to 4PM
TORRINGTON, Conn. — Five Points Arts welcomes artists, collectors, and visitors of all ages to the 2026 Print Festival Weekend, July 18–19, at the Five Points Arts Center, 855 University Drive in Torrington. Celebrating the rich tradition of printmaking, the festival transforms the Arts Center into a vibrant destination where centuries-old techniques meet contemporary artistic expression.
At the heart of the festival is BIG INK, an extraordinary printmaking experience unlike any other in New England. Sixteen selected artists will arrive with monumental woodblocks they have spent months carving by hand. Throughout the weekend, these large-scale works will be inked and printed using BIG INK's massive traveling press, Big Tuna, in dramatic live demonstrations.
The festival also features the International Juried Print Exhibition, showcasing 82 fine art prints selected from over 400 submissions from 31 US States, Canada and Japan. One Best in Show will be selected by the juror, Master Printmaker and Art Educator, Kathleen Schroeder, and will receive a solo exhibition at Five Points Gallery in 2027.
Visitors are invited to tour the Five Points Arts Center - observe print demonstrations in screen printing, etching, lithography, monotype, digital and offset printing; participate in fun Hands-on printing activities for all ages; shop the book and tag sale; vote for the best print in the juried exhibit; and take a chance to win a $100 gift certificate.    Visitors can also explore Five Points’ bucolic grounds, walk the John Brown Trail and enjoy tacos from the Taco Shack food truck and Peaches ‘n Cream ice cream.
"The Print Festival is a celebration of artists, craftsmanship, and the enduring power of printmaking," said Judith McElhone, Executive Director of Five Points Arts. "Art has the power to bring people together, inspire curiosity, and connect us through shared experiences. Whether you are an experienced collector, an artist, or someone discovering printmaking for the very first time, the festival offers everyone the opportunity to experience this extraordinary art form up close. At Five Points, we believe art is for everyone.”
