Dimensional Crockery Mosaic Workshop with Barbara Galazzo (Friday, June 13)
Transform crockery or your discarded pottery creations and found objects into a mosaic. Discover how to deconstruct plates, bowls and cups and use in a way that produces a fun dimensional design with the unique lumps and curves of pottery. Gain insight into techniques of how to cut tesserae not only from the flat surfaces of plates and other ceramic ware, but the lips, feet, rims, handles, lids, spouts, and more. You will utilize the mortar method so that there is no need to use messy grout and still achieve a beautiful piece. Setting in mortar we will maximize sculptural/dimensional possibilities; building a cohesive color/material palette, and composing with crockery’s lovely curves and bumps. Whether you have taken mosaics before or you are a beginner, you’ll find this a new and fun technique.

Encaustic Printmaking Without a Press – Workshop with Leslie Giuliani (July 26 & 27)
In this workshop, artists will learn various techniques of Encaustic printmaking on the heated palette using oil-based Pigment Sticks as our ink. Also covered will be aspects of color mixing and layering to get luminous, complex, multi-layered prints and paintings. We will work on Encaustiflex, an absorbent microfiber paper that holds lots of paint layers. No press is required so you can take these techniques right back to your studio. Having a variety of printmaking techniques at hand allows you to never be at a loss for something to get you going in the studio. Just build and layer. All levels are welcome.

Cyanotype: Printing with Light Workshop With Bruce Dunbar (Sat.-Sun., June 7-8)
Cyanotype is an eco-friendly, non-toxic, iron-based photographic process which yields a deep blue color. In this workshop, we will use UV light to explore the traditional cyanotype method using found objects, natural materials and/or negatives (film or digital). We will also experiment with the wet cyanotype method which produces unexpected and surprising results. Coating methods, chemistry safety and history will all be discussed while still allowing time for exploration of the process. A survey of work by artists who have used this process creatively will provide inspiration. All levels welcome.

Oil Painting with Cold Wax Medium Workshop With Leslie Giuliani (Sun., June 22-29)
In this workshop, participants will learn how adding Cold Wax medium to oil paint allows for a more physical handling of Oil Paint, building complex
surfaces and color layers using a variety of tools beyond the brush. We will work on several different substrates including Ampersand Gessobords, Arches Oil Paper and Encaustiflex microfiber paper. Learn how Cold Wax and Oil is compatible with other
media such as Acrylic Paint, Encaustic and most drawing materials.
This workshop will be held on two consecutive Sundays. The first day we will work wet into wet, the Cold Wax achieving many effects quickly that pure tube oils cannot. The following Sunday, the Cold Wax and Oil will have had time to set up quite a bit allowing for multiple methods of working particular to Cold Wax and Oil. If you are new to Oil Painting or an experienced Oil painter this workshop is for you. Expand your materials toolbox. All levels welcome.
