p.s. your code is getting LONGER and LOOONNGGER. i'm waiting for one
of you to blow away this old man's code and write something shorter
than my code. at the very least, i think you should meditate a while
on my code looking for any patterns you might want to use (feel free!)

p.p.s for NB, many of you are neglecting the M and K constants. that's
fine but if you getting div/0 errors or bad performance scores, then
please reconsider M and K
