Seeking an Expert on Risk Capital Funds in small countries! |
This individual, short-term consulting opportunity involves accompanying an IDB team on a mission to the Caribbean to support exploratory work on the design of a risk capital fund and a complementary pipeline-building operation. The assignment would focus on contributing analytical inputs to early-stage fund design discussions, supporting market and ecosystem assessments, and engaging with key public and private stakeholders to identify financing gaps and potential investable opportunities. The consultant would work closely with the team to help shape preliminary concepts for fund structure, governance, and pipeline development mechanisms, providing targeted expertise to inform next steps in the development of innovative financing solutions for private sector growth in the Caribbean. |
Successful participation in this consultancy requires strong analytical and research skills, a solid understanding of private equity, venture capital, or blended finance instruments, and experience with private sector development or entrepreneurial ecosystems. The role also demands excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights, and the capacity to work effectively in multidisciplinary, fast-paced mission environments. |

The North America and Caribbean Network on Learning, Innovation, and Competence Building Systems (NACLICS) invites academics and practitioners to submit papers or special sessions for the 2nd NACLICS research conference, on the theme “Modeling Tomorrow: Innovation for Sustainable Development.” |
The conference will be held at The University of the West Indies at Cave Hill in Barbados, from June 24 through June 26, 2026, in conjunction with the NACLICS PhD Academy. |
NACLICS seeks to build community among scholars in our region who study how innovation can reduce inequalities within and between countries, to assure that development “leaves no one behind.” Research presented at the conference might address the roles of innovation in: • Innovation in the blue and green economy • Eliminating poverty and hunger • Generating decent work and economic growth • Enabling sustainable cities and communities • Responsible consumption and production • Strengthening industry and infrastructure • Navigating digital transitions While we encourage submissions on the central theme of the conference, submissions on all issues relevant to innovation for development are welcome.

Two types of presentation are available:

Research papers: Original unpublished research. Submission may be either an extended abstract of 500-1000 words or a full paper. In either case, the submission should address goals, research questions, methods, and results. Special sessions: Several presentations on a topic. Sessions will be 90 minutes. They can include 3-5 speakers and must leave time for interaction and discussion. Proposed speakers should be confirmed.
