The tenth chapter narrates the story of how Surya cured King Satyavrata of leprosy by giving him a chariot ride across the sky. The eleventh chapter tells how Surya helped King Mandhata defeat his enemies by granting him a boon of invincibility. The twelfth chapter relates how Surya blessed King Harishchandra with a son named Rohita by accepting his sacrifice of a golden chariot. The thirteenth chapter recounts how Surya rescued his devotee Kunti from a forest fire by sending his son Karna to save her. The fourteenth chapter describes how Surya taught the art of archery to Arjuna, the Pandava prince, by appearing as Dronacharya, his guru.
The fifteenth chapter narrates the story of how Surya tested the faith and devotion of his son Shani by asking him to swallow him. The sixteenth chapter tells how Surya bestowed his grace upon Rama, the incarnation of Vishnu, by giving him a divine arrow to kill Ravana, the demon king. The seventeenth and final chapter summarizes the essence and importance of the Surya Puran for attaining happiness, prosperity, health, fame, and salvation.
