2023 Spring Park-O Series

Welcome to the 2023 Spring Park Orienteering Thursday Series (SPOTS)! 

This year the spring park-O series will be a set of 7-8 in-person events in Greater Boston area parks. 

Time: Start times are from 6:00 pm to 7:00pm on Thursday evenings

Proposed Dates and Locations (permits still pending for a few locations): 

Apr 20: Boston Common, Boston (Nils Peters) 

Apr 27: Nahanton Park, Newton (Pia Webb)

May 4: Horn Pond, Woburn (Ian Finlayson) 

May 11: DCR Herter Park, Boston (Patrick McNeal) 

May 18: Jamaica Pond, Boston (Ari Ofsevit)

May 25: Menotomy Rocks, Arlington (Ian Finlayson)

Jun 1: DCR Historic Beaver Brook, Belmont/Waltham (CRLS)

Jun 8: Pine Banks, Malden (Terry Costello)

Registration: Pre-registration is required for all events no later than the Tuesday (2 days) before. Reserve your spot now for the full series or sign up weekly. We will print maps based on pre-registration. 

Courses: Advanced and Beginner. These are short courses suitable for evening races so Advanced courses will be between 1.5-3.5 km with 10-15 minute winning times, while beginner courses will be between 1-2 km. Advanced course runners earn points at each completed event, with your best 4 event results added to calculate your series score and overall ranking.

 

Fees: 

      - Series Registration: $30/person or $75/family 

      - Individual Event: $6/person or $15/family
