There was some interest at the first meeting in there being a place for members to find others with specific knowledge or experience in certain topics in order to collaborate or answer specific questions, etc. I think the simplest and most standardized way to do that is to post under this discussion with:

Department/Organization
Research Interests
Software Experience/Programming Languages
Previous Degree(s)(if applicable)
Things you want to learn more about
Other (hobbies, where you're from, favorite animal, music you like, etc. etc.)

Feel free to answer all or none of these, or add anything else you think is relevant. Let's share the knowledge, ya'll!

Department: Graduate Degree Program in Ecology, also part of the Falkowski/Vogeler lab
Research Interests: Well, there are a ton. Primarily I have worked on remote sensing applications for grasslands, emergent aquatic vegetation, and a small amount within forests. Landscape ecology and remote sensing are the best descriptors.
Software:
  • ArcMap - I was the TA for NR 323 (Remote Sensing) last semester
  • RStudio - packages: raster/sp/rgdal/randomForest/rfUtilities/VSURF/ggplot2/spatstat/caret/rgrass7/rlist/stringr
  • Google Earth Engine - worked with LandTrendr on several occasions, have also worked with MS and SAR datasets in GEE
  • Others - ENVI/Fusion/ArcCollector  ** ( I have not worked as extensively with these )
Previous Degree: Bachelor's in Ecosystem Science and Sustainability (ESS), CSU
Things I want to learn more about: Working with and processing LiDAR data, in depth
Other: I worked with NASA DEVELOP previously, so if you are interested in applying, feel free to reach out to me. I like to play saxophone, some piano, and I like to go hiking. I occasionally do some video editing or work on writing music in my free time.
