Hi everyone. I would like to know if this project is still maintained after the Microsoft acquisition and also what are the plans for its future.

cstore is a core component of our platform as we are heavy Postgres users but we fill like maybe  we should start evaluating some other alternatives.

Regards

We plan to continue development of columnar storage as part of the Citus extension:

Citus Columnar is based on cstore_fdw but uses the new table access method APIs to give a more native user experience. It also supports improved compression, streaming replication, archival, pg_dump, rollback, and simplified pg_upgrade.

Oh, good. We will migrate to Postgres 12 with Citus then.

We have many installations of our system using cstore_fdw, how do you think we should proceed? Can we make and export of the foreign tables and then load them in the new ones?

The Citus and cstore_fdw extensions can co-exist so you can do: INSERT INTO citus_columnar_table SELECT * FROM cstore_table.

We added some instructions to https://github.com/citusdata/cstore_fdw
