Position Overview
The District Support Coordinator leads implementation of programs that provide district level support for K-12 computer science pathways, primarily for Minnesota school districts. This role provides district support through professional development, coaching, and district planning to develop sustainable and equitable computer science pathways in districts. The National Center for Computer Science Education champions, researches, and provides equitable computer science education opportunities for K16 students and educators.

Job ResponsibilitiesDistrict Support - Leadership and Operations (60%)- Support school districts in developing CS education visions, strategic plans, scope-and-sequences, and implementation plans.
- Meet with school districts participating in K12 CS education programs, including travel as needed.
- Assist CS educators in developing their leadership skills within their district, regionally, and/or nationally.
- Evaluate and recommend curriculum across K-12 that is equitable and aligned to district visions and plans.
- Learn about and test new programming languages, physical computing devices, etc. that are relevant for K12 CS education.
- Support the development and refinement of K12 CS curriculum for use in programs and with participating districts.
- Document project activities, outcomes, communications, etc.
- Contribute to grant writing and reporting activities.
- Maintain and strengthen existing relationships with Minnesota school districts and teachers.
Professional Development (20%)- Provide educator professional development for districts by identifying professional development needs for teachers, counselors, and administrators of participating schools and then identifying existing opportunities to meet needs and/or designing professional development opportunities that follow best practices and align with needs, school vision, and research goals.
- Stay current with research on CS education, curriculum, and professional development.
- Model inclusive CS teaching strategies during professional development and coaching activities.
- Coach CS educators by co-teaching, observing educator classrooms, and providing feedback and resources.
Outreach / Development (20%)- Develop new relationships with Minnesota school districts and teachers in a variety of contexts (urban, rural, small, large, etc.)
- Lead outreach activities for K-12 students in formal and informal learning environments.
- Disseminate project findings, especially to practitioner audiences.
- Support external professional learning communities of CS educators, such as the CSTA-MN chapter.
- Contribute to setting the research agenda and funding prospects for the NCCSE.
- Provide content for web and social media communication channels to share progress on district pathways.
