Summer Professional Learning Opportunities
Our summer professional development series will be hosted virtually.
CMU CS Academy Introductory Professional Learning Date Options:
- June 20-23, 3 days (21 hours total) virtual asynchronous/synchronous blended sessions
- July 18-22, 5 days (21 hours total) virtual asynchronous/synchronous blended sessions
- August 1-3, 3 days (21 hours total) virtual asynchronous/synchronous blended sessions
For our 21-hour Summer Training, you have the option of signing up for our CMU CS Academy CS1, CS0, or AP CSP curriculum. This training is available to those planning to teach CS1, CS0, or our AP CSP modules in their classrooms for the 2022-2023 school year.
Our staff here at CMU will cover all of the major topics in the curriculum, spend time exploring the website and all sessions will also spend time on topics like "CS Pedagogy" and "Building interest in CS at your School." During our synchronous working sessions, there will be opportunities to collaborate with other educators as well as the opportunity for individual support from our CMU CS Academy Support Staff, comprised of students here at CMU!
No prior experience is required for our introductory offerings.
This year we will also offer training on our CS2 curriculum for educators who are already teaching CMU CS Academy and would like to teach the CS2 curriculum in their classrooms for the 2022-2023 school year. Dates for CS2 training are TBD. Please sign up below if you are interested in attending.
We also will offer a 1-day workshop, CMU CS Academy Creativity Deep Dive, for educators who are already teaching CMU CS Academy in their classrooms and would like to dive deeper into creating their own exercises, culturally responsive teaching, and facilitating creative tasks.
