Dear CSTA-MA colleagues:

I’m writing to let you know about a summer program that runs at various locations around the country, including in Boston at Northeastern University. Please see the following announcement and encourage your students from backgrounds that are underrepresented in computing to apply.

Applications for SMASH Residential are NOW OPEN! This FREE summer program gives students a three-week, immersive experience living on a college campus while exploring CS and Tech careers. If you know students ready to take the next step in their STEM journey, encourage them to apply today at smash.org/apply. Deadline to complete the application is March 15, 2025.

SMASH has a long-standing commitment to increasing equity in computer and tech-related employment by building interest, knowledge, and aspirations in computer science for underrepresented high school and college students of color. SMASH Residential was founded more than 20 years ago and provides Computer Science and STEM education for underserved students of color in communities around the country. Our alumni major and work in STEM fields at nearly 3X the national average.

SMASH Residential offers current 10th and 11th grade students a holistic and intensive three-week, cost-free, residential program during the summer that integrates racial and gender equity to help scholars build confidence, and the professional networks to pursue and persist in CS degrees and careers. The application is now LIVE! Apply at smash.org/apply. The deadline to apply is March 15, 2025. Please email Ludnie Deneus at ludnie...@smash.org for questions about the application.

Enjoy your winter break!

Josh
