ARDUINO ALVIK ROBOT – MAKING CODING & ROBOTICS FUN AND ACCESSIBLE FOR K-12 STUDENTS
Teach students to code with our game-changing programming and robotics platform, Arduino Alvik! Designed for K12 school students up to advanced learners, Alvik makes learning coding, robotics, and STEM easier than ever before.
This compact yet powerful robot supports a wide range of programming languages, including MicroPython - a lightweight variant of Python. Python is widely regarded as the top language for educational purposes, providing an excellent foundation for students to explore cutting-edge technologies. Students can quickly bring their ideas to life.
Educators already praise Alvik for striking the “best balance between advanced features and ease of use for all learners.” With upcoming block-based programming integration, Alvik will lower the learning barrier even further.
Alvik includes a free "Explore Robotics in MicroPython" course to support educators. The CSTA curriculum standard course offers over 11 engaging, easy-to-follow project-based lessons and real-life activities introducing core principles of coding and robotics.
Integrated sensors, advanced motor drivers, and additional ports allow users to transform Alvik into various robots for different applications. Students can tackle real-world projects like smart warehouses and smart city highways.
Discover how Arduino Alvik can transform your lessons. Visit our website or head straight to the online store to purchase Alvik for your classroom.

AMERICAN COMPUTER SCIENCE LEAGUE
ACSL is a computer science contest and a programming contest. Divisions are available for students with coding experience, for students with little coding experience, and for students with no coding experience. There are two divisions with no coding required: Classroom (any grade) and Elementary (grades 3 - 6).
While the other contests are a one-time programming competition for your very best students, ACSL is a contest for all your students. Schools compete as a team so all students can participate. The questions in each division are geared to the experience level of the student. Schools can have teams in multiple divisions. ACSL is a school-year competition with 4 contests covering the following topics:
Computer Number Systems | Regular Expressions | Bit-String Operations
Boolean Algebra | What Does This Program Do? | Recursive Func
Finite State Automata | Prefix/Postfix Notation | LISP
Digital Electronics | Graph Theory | Data Structures | Assembly Language
ACSL provides a wiki for each topic. In addition to the topic description, the wiki includes sample questions and teaching videos. All testing and scoring is conducted online with scores being transmitted to the viewable ACSL Leaderboard.
Details concerning the contest can be found at www.acsl.org. Questions can be sent to in...@acsl.org.

AWARD OPPORTUNITY FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AVAILABLE UNTIL OCT. 29
Applications for the NCWIT Aspirations in Computing (AiC) High School Award are open through October 29, 2024! The AiC High School Award honors 9th-12th grade women, genderqueer, and non-binary students for their computing-related achievements and interests, encourages them to pursue their passions in computing and tech, and connects them to a community of 30,000 technologists.
Last year, Aspirations in Computing awarded over 3,400 awards to high school students across the US, Canada, Guam, and Puerto Rico. The AiC High School Award has a proven record of increasing confidence, persistence and belonging in technology fields for women, genderqueer, and non-binary individuals.
This award is different because it uplifts and encourages technologists at ALL stages of their journeys! There are award designations for students at every level of technical ability, including students with little to no experience.
AiC High School Award National Winners receive cash and an all-expenses paid trip to Charlotte, N.C., hosted by the National Award sponsor, Bank of America.
