Good morning

Yesterday was a HUGE day in our goal to ensure ALL students have the opportunity to study Computer Science.    The revised K-12 NJ Student Learning Standards were adopted by the NJ State Board of Education on June 3, 2020.   Computer Science now has it's own set of standards (8.1) and the standards are MUCH more comprehensive than the previous standards.   These standards will be implemented starting in September 2022 for all students in K-12  (WOW!!!).   

If you have some time this summer, please read them over.    The introduction really lays out the mission and vision for CSforAll in NJ as developed by the Governor's CS Advisory Board and the standards are very comprehensive and well done by grade bands (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12).   

I would like to thank the small group of dedicated CSTANJ educators who worked very hard to develop these standards, I don't think their names are public information, but if you know them please thank them.    Their work will impact 1.4 million K-12 students.    Think about how incredible that is!!   Nice job!

Reminds me of the quote: "A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops."

Please share this information with your administrators, teachers, students, parents and community.

Thank you all for all you to to improve the lives of our students.   Hopefully these standards give you a road map to be able to do that more effectively.
